Why Write?
Whether it’s telling a story, communicating essential information, a lamenting poem, or a post for entertainment, I believe every word is important. Writing interprets our world just as much as it builds it. Good writing is not completed without purpose. Writing inspires. Writing influences.
As a creative writer, I want to share how I interpret our world, and especially the new worlds that can’t stay inside my head forever! Worldbuilding, character development, creating plot and alluring images are just some of my favorite aspects of writing creatively.
But no matter what I’m writing, I remind myself of one thing: Be a good steward of your words, and write well!
Education: Received a B. S. in Writing and minor in Creative Writing from Liberty University. A member of Sigma Tau Delta: The International English Honors Society.
Favorite class? Definitely PHIL468: The Thought of J. R. R. Tolkien. Next would be Editing for Publishing. (These are two of my favorite things. Tolkien and Editing)
What I like to write/read: Fantasy fiction is my go-to genre, but I also enjoy mystery, sci-fi, and poetry! My two favorite books are Tolkien’s The Silmarillion, and Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows.
Other Fun Facts:
- I’m from Grand Rapids, MI- and yes, I do love the cold Midwest.
- Before pursuing a Writing degree, I was a Piano Performance Major.
- I LOVE birds. Crows especially (this was only fueled by Six of Crows)
- Love God. Love people.
